Trail Characteristics

The Sentinel Peak trail is an asphalt road that is repaired regularly with tar

Potholes and cracks in the road
are repaired to maintain
a smooth surface

The road has gratings to drain water from the surface

At the summit, there are several packed-earth trails to lead to
shade ramadas


The paved trail has moderate grades (up to 8%) as it climbs to the summit

There are large drop-offs (up to 6”) from the road to the dirt surface

The entry to the spectacular Starr Valley ramada is a series of large
rock steps

The trail to the Starr Valley ramada is rocky, sandy and steep
A packed-earth trail to a ramada
is flat but sandy
