Description

Overview

· 7 miles south of Safford in Graham County

· A sub-unit of Roper Lake State Park, located 3 miles north

· 15-acre pond fed by a natural underground artesian hot spring

· Scenic hiking trails around the lake and surrounding area

· Archaeological site with native replicas

· Accessible portable restroom near the trailhead

· Potable water available

· Dogs allowed on leash

· Fishing and birding around the pond

· Picnic tables and ramadas


Trail Route

· 1.9-mile roundtrip hike to Dankworth Village

· Half-mile loop around the pond

· Well-maintained natural surface with some ruts and some steep 

  sections (>10%)

· Wooden stairs near the beginning of the Dankworth Village section

· Shade and benches along the route

· Clear trail signage for navigation
