Overview

  • Tohono Chul Park is a 49-acre botanical garden showcasing native and desert-adapted plants of the Sonoran Desert

  • The name “Tohono Chul” means “desert corner” in the language of the Tohono O’odham Nation

  • Themed gardens highlighting local geology, climate, flora, and horticulture

  • Enjoy a cold drink or meal at the hacienda-style bistro and explore art galleries in the Exhibit House

Parking, Restrooms & Amenities

  • Ample accessible parking near the entrance, accessible restrooms, water stations

  • Shade ramadas and informative signage

  • The park is largely wheelchair accessible, though some outer trails—such as the South Loop Trail, Saguaro Discovery Trail, and Desert View Trail—have rocky or uneven sections

  • Docents patrol trails and share insights on Sonoran Desert ecology and culture

  • Guided tours offered most days, included with admission

  • Dogs are not allowed

Trail Route

  • Pedestrian path leads to admissions, restrooms, gift shop, and café

  • Hike begins on a paved walkway, branching into multiple dirt paths leading to points of interest

  • The dense network of trails allows for customized loops based on distance, time, and interest

  • Trails loop back to the main entrance area

  • Return path leads directly back to the parking lot
