Trail Characteristics

A morning stroll along a shady, sandy section of the Gabe Zimmerman Trail

Sections of the trail are packed dirt of moderate grade

The beginning of the trail is steep (some slopes>8%), highly eroded and rocky

The trail is sandy and overgrown in the creek bed on Davidson Canyon

Tree roots of 1-3” diameter are exposed along the trail for a tripping hazard

Sections along the creek bed are shaded by a canopy of cottonwood trees

Hikers climb the steep section leading from Davidson Canyon to the parking lot

Sustained sections of the trail have sand of depth > 2”

Hikers stand in a pool of water along the unmarked trail through Ciénega Creek
