Sabino Canyon Recreation Area Sabino Canyon Road
Trail Characteristics

Bridges along the trail are flat, wide, paved with asphalt and cement, with rock curbs.

The road is steep (7% grade) near stops 9 and 1, but flat (1-3% grade) in between.

Six restrooms along the trail are accessible with ramps and railings.

The nine historic bridges often have no railings and have precipitous drop-offs.

Several coarse gratings cross the road for water drainage.

Hikers wade through ankle-deep water flowing over a bridge after a storm.

Hikers share the trail with cyclists in the morning and evening.

A dirt trail parallels the road for much of the hike with a 1” lip between surfaces.

A metal plaque honors the Work Project Administration Project in 1936.
