Trail Characteristics

The first half-mile of the trail is wide, packed, and flat.

The trail is coated with a sandy surface about ¼” deep.

There are sometimes rocks and bushes in the trail that can be easily circumvented.

A hiker enjoys the flat trail and views along the first half-mile of the trail.

The trail traverses small washes that have a sandy surface for a short distance.

The first half-mile of the trail traverses a desert ecosystem with a mountain view behind.

At mile 0.5, there is a rustic staircase that is an obstacle to hikers with wheelchairs.

The second half-mile of the trail is still flat and wide, but is more rocky.

After the first mile of the hike, the trail gets rocky and rises steeply to a ridgetop.
