TAT has a whopping 31 trail descriptions on our website and more coming! But we didn’t do this alone. We have a long list of loyal supporters who believe in our mission and keep us on track.

  • Jamie Maslyn Larson, CEO at Tohono Chul Park, started us out with the sage words “Don’t hesitate. You don’t need anyone’s permission.”

  • Bob Liu at UX@UA gave us a gratis 1-hour hands-on expert consultation to launch our website into the technosphere.  Later, he invited TAT to join a 4-person panel entitled “I Made Something Cool”. We did!

  • Lesley Kontowicz, Executive Director of the Santa Cruz Valley Heritage Alliance, immediately recognized the value of our work, and without hesitation, commissioned four new trail descriptions in Santa Cruz County and licensed our trail descriptions for her SCVHA trail page.

  • David Shannon established TAT as a nonprofit, keeps the corporate books, and revises the TAT website.

  • Sarah Shannon formed a small business, Tucson Trailworks, to help build trail profiles for TAT and for Portland's AccessTrails.

  • Linda Boroquez-Lopez, MS Graduate Student Assistant at University of Arizona, redesigned the TAT website to be more inclusive, user-friendly and ready for future growth.

  • Jeff Schmidt, Grant Program Manager at Arizona State Parks and Trails, envisioned a partnership between TAT and ASPT and encouraged us to apply for a grant, which will be funded in July 2026.

  • Talyah Collins joined the team as a TAT intern and hiked the Gabe Zimmerman Trail.

  • The Community Foundation for Southern Arizona funded TAT with an unrestricted grant to expand our work on trail descriptions from Tucson to all of Southern Arizona. TAT hits the road!

  • Word got out and TAT caught the interest of like-minded trail advocates, including Tucson Bird Alliance, The Nature Conservancy, and Saguaro National Park.

Our next blog entries will share more about our partners and our latest trail stories. We will be giving tips on profiling trails from the first step to the final slideshow using the Guidelines for Providing Trail Information to People with Disabilities.

Donate to our project and your favorite trail may be the next addition!

Hike on!  TAT Team
